You don't always realize the toll that everyday stress, along with dust and air pollution, take on your face. However, taking a regular steam facial will help to clean the pores and bring dull skin back to life. Peppermint facials are especially effective for oily skin.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large saucepan
  • Water
  • 2 tbsp. fresh mint leaves
  • Kitchen towel
  • Large bath towel
  1. Step 1

Fill a large saucepan with fresh water and bring it to a boil over high heat.

  2. Step 2

Pour the water into a mixing bowl and toss in 2 tbsp. of fresh mint leaves.

  3. Step 3

Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the peppermint steep for about 10 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Wash your face in your usual way.

  5. Step 5

Lean over the bowl and drape a large bath towel over your head to keep the steam from escaping. Close your eyes and inhale slowly as the steam penetrates your pores.

  6. Step 6

Keep your face in the steam for 8 to 10 minutes if you have very oily skin, and approximately 3 minutes for dry skin.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have acne, repeat the peppermint steam treatment twice a week. If you have sensitive or dry skin, once a week is enough.
  • Add a bit more fresh peppermint if you want a stronger peppermint facial. It's best to start with less, as peppermint is strong and some people can be sensitive to it.
