Step 1
Switch the valve on the suction line to the correct port for the vacuum. Verify the pump lines are free of debris and clogging by checking the filter attachment.
-
Step 2
Attach the vacuum hose to the pump and then the vacuum head. The hose end that swivels attaches to the vacuum head and is designed to keep air out of the system. Reversing the hose ends will introduce air into the pump causing erratic operation of the filter system. Verify the vacuum head is in the deep end to fill with water.
-
Step 3
Set the unattached hose end into the pool near a water return fitting. This lets the hose fill with water quickly so the pump doesn't bind from large pockets of air in the system.
-
Step 4
Place a hand over the hose end and attach it to the vacuum head pole. Turn on the pump and listen for uneven operation as the pump adjusts to the new load. Once the pump is running normally, begin to vacuum along the deep end of the pool in long strokes. Move the vacuum head slowly to allow the sediment to flow into the filter. Continue until the pool is free of all sediment.
