How to Become an American Bully Kennel Club Judge

The American Bully Kennel Club (ABKC) is a prestigious kennel club for bully breed dogs. Because of its exclusivity, judges must know how to distinguish the standards in bully breeds. The ABKC has one set of confirmation standards.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Put it in writing. To qualify as an ABKC show judge, you must compose an essay describing your experience with bully breed dogs. Submit this to the ABKC with your resume. That resume should outline your experiences with all dog breeds.
Step2
Gather pictures that demonstrate your show experience. These photos may be images of your own dogs and shots of you judging a UKC or ADBA sanctioned show or local, unsanctioned shows.
Step3
Submit your resume, essay and pictures to the ABKC by mail or by email. If you send it by regular mail, ask for a delivery confirmation. If you send it by email, request a read receipt email.
Step4
Learn the ABKC bully breed standards. The ABKC will send you a test or quiz you over the phone. The standards may vary from other kennel clubs.
Step5
Be prepared to attend at least one show as an Associate Judge. Keep in mind that the ABKC is based in California, and many of its sanctioned shows are in that area.
Step6
Have a photographer take pictures of the dogs in the show ring during your trial show. You will have to submit these to the ABKC for review before you can become an Official Judge.
