Sticky foam is a very tacky substance used by law enforcement or military personnel to overpower and impair individuals who need to be controlled. The sticky foam is shot from a fire extinguisher type gun which can fire multiple shots of the substance. It is hard to clean up the foam, which is its biggest downfall. The following will show you how to remove sticky foam from vinyl siding.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Wipe the foam off the vinyl siding with a clean and completely dry cloth if the foam is still wet. As long as the foam is not cured or dry you should be able to remove some of it this way. Get as much off the vinyl siding as you can with the dry cloth.
Step2
Dampen the cloth with acetone or acetone-based nail polish remover if the foam is not coming off with the dry cloth. Remove the remaining foam or as much as you can with the acetone and the cloth.
Step3
Scrape the sticky foam off with a scraper gently as to not crack the surface of the vinyl siding. You can also trim the sticky foam first if necessary with a pair of scissors. If you still can not remove the foam completely, replacement of the siding pieces affected may be necessary.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you can not remove the sticky foam from the siding, or if you accidentally crack or chip the siding while attempting to remove the sticky foam, you will need to replace the siding pieces affected. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to replace the siding pieces.
  • You can use mineral oil to remove the sticky foam from skin.
