      Go to the Guinness World Records website and click on the link "Find A World Record" to make sure that you have actually broken the record or feel you can break the record you are applying for, then click on the link "Break A World Record" link.

      Click on the "Apply Now" link in the box on the right-hand side of the screen and enter all of your personal information in the spaces provided, including name, phone, address and so forth.

      Input your email address and create a password. Your email address will serve as your user ID. Create a security question that will help you retrieve your user ID or password if you forget it.

      Open the email you receive from Guinness World Records that confirms your email address. Click on the link provided in the email to confirm your email address.

      Fill out the application and submit it online.

      Read and sign the "Agreement Regarding Record Attempt" that Guinness World Records will send you in an email in about 3 working days. On the agreement will be a claim ID number that you will need to keep and write on all paperwork. Fax the signed agreement back to Guinness to expedite your claim.

      Wait 4 to 6 weeks for a response from Guinness World Records via email, which will either be a rejection with as many details that led to this decision as possible or an acceptance with guidelines attached that you must then follow. If accepted, you will also receive a "Records Breakers Pack."

      Complete all information and make the record attempt, making sure to follow all the attached guidelines. Then send all the evidence of your attempt in one package to Guinness World Records. Make sure to mark everything, inside and out, with your claim ID number.

      Receive your Guinness World Records certificate and a letter from Guinness World Records in about 6 to 8 weeks if accepted.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also choose the "fast track" option which will bring your wait time for an initial response from Guinness down to 3 working days. This option requires payment, whereas the regular route is totally free.

  • You can also apply for "Fast Review" which brings the acceptance time down to 3 days once you have sent them all the evidence of your record break. This also requires payment.
