When you play Counter Strike with your friends, perhaps you're getting tired of being blown away all the time. Like other first-person shooting games of its kind, Counter Strike requires unique game skills that take time and patience to improve on.

Practice with other first-person shooter games, even console games. Halo is a good example. This won't help you get used to a PC's game controls, but it can help you with the eye-hand coordination you need for these games.

Start playing on the lower-ranked servers, but move up as quickly as you can. Once you've mastered playing against a certain skill level, take on tougher opponents. Otherwise, your own skill will never improve.

Refrain from talking, unless your character has been killed. Avoid the radio commands unless you absolutely have to (like needing backup). Most players ignore the radio, so you'll mostly be wasting time.
