Every child should have a pet at some point in their lives. This teaches them patience and responsibility. They learn to be a caregiver to the pet, which will develop care-giving skills. It also places the child in a position of learning to watch out for the life of another living creature.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pet your cat. Your cat naturally feels closeness to its owner; at times it is more like it owns the human. It desires attention and expects to receive it when it wants it. Cats are very aloof in their attitude, but especially when they are kittens, are always in the mood to play.

  2. Step 2

Brush your cat's fur. Cats are very particular about their appearance and helping them maintain the look of a well-groomed cat. Your cat will appreciate it.

  3. Step 3

Give them food and water. Make sure they always have a supply of food but especially water. They can become dehydrated easily when there is no source of clean water for them to drink.

  4. Step 4

Play with them often. This lets them know that you do love them and that you enjoy spending time with them. Every cat is different, and each has their own character. You have to learn how your cat communicates with you.

  5. Step 5

Keep your cat's ears clean. Mites are small microscopic pests that can take up residence in your cat's ear canal and will irritate your cat endlessly. If left untreated it can lead to an ear infection.

  6. Step 6

Buy them toys to play with. Cats are inquisitive and especially as kittens love to play with small stuffed mice and playthings. Most playthings have a small amount of catnip placed in or on the toy, which cats adore.
