Step 1
Start by taking small jumps. Practice until you have the small jumps down perfect before moving to a larger jump. Take a large jump on your dirt bike only after you have gained plenty of experience and are completely confident that you can land without crashing.
-
Step 2
Check the landing area before taking a jump. Look to see that there is no debris around the landing area. Make sure there is plenty of room for you to land your dirt bike before the trail ends or turns.
-
Step 3
Verify that the jump is stable. Never take a jump on your dirt bike that is not stable. Test the jump first by standing on it, then take your bike on the jump to test to see if it will hold the weight of your bike.
-
Step 4
Practice taking a jump slowly several times before you take it at full speed. Walk through the motions of jumping your bike before taking the actual jump if you are not able to practice going slow.
-
Step 5
Use more acceleration on small ramps than on large. Get as much momentum on the dirt bike before the front wheel leaves the ramp.
-
Step 6
Keep your front wheel pointing towards the landing position. Bail from the back of the bike if your wheel crosses and is not in the correct position.
