Whether you send out a box in the mail or make a gift basket at home, you can use paper shredding as packaging. This low cost item saves a lot of money when you shred newspaper in a home shredder for the purpose.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Newspaper
  • Paper shredder
  • Tissue paper
  • Cardboard box
  • Related gifts
  • Fancy wrapping paper

Step1
Use only unimportant shredded paper. Even though your shredded bills and invoices might seem tempting, avoid those types of materials when you use paper shredding as packaging.
Step2
Put a little news in your packages. Shredded newspaper provides the ideal packing material. Use a shredder to make the packaging fuller. Shredding paper for packaging creates air pockets that cushion the package better.
Step3
Put some paper shredding on the bottom of the packaging before you add the item for shipping. Stuff the shredded paper around the item until it's fully cushioned and then add some on the top. You want as much shredded paper around your shipped item as possible to protect it.
Step4
Create a basket with paper shredding. Find colorful inexpensive paper and shred it yourself. Sometimes inexpensive tissue paper is a great choice for gift baskets. When you use paper shredding as packaging for gifts, bright colors spice up the look and make the basket look larger.
Step5
Pack enough paper shredding on the bottom to take a lot of space. You want the items in the gift basket proudly displayed. When you use paper shredding as packaging it makes the basket look like it has more items in it.
Step6
Create unusual gift combinations with paper shredding. If you give a roasting pan, line the pan with shredded packaging and put spices for roast beef on the top. The use of the shredding creates the visual bond between the two related items.
Step7
Turn an ordinary box into a beautiful container. Wrap the box in decorative foil and use colorful paper shredding as packaging to fill the box. This unique wrapping turns a cardboard box into a glamorous gift container.
