Kitchen cabinets are available in various wood grains and laminates. Both kinds are durable and low maintenance. Nonetheless, this doesn't mean that you can neglect maintaining them. Regular and proper cleaning is important to prevent stains and grease build-up.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Clean laminated kitchen cabinets with dish detergent (formulated to remove grease stains) and warm water. Dilute the soap in warm water and use a sponge or soft brush to clean the surface. Rinse with cold water.
Step2
Spray a general cleaning product on the laminated cabinet and wait about 5 minutes to remove stubborn stains. You may use a plastic brush before wiping off the cleaner.
Step3
Use a gentle solvent, such as a paint thinner or nail polish remover, to remove ink. Apply a small amount of thinner on a cotton swab or rag and rub the stain away.
Step4
Mix half vinegar and half water if you're concerned about hazardous chemicals. It'll remove most grease stains on laminated and painted wood kitchen cabinets.
Step5
Remove cooking stains with an oil-based soap specially formulated for wood, like Murphy® Oil Soap. Follow the directions on the container when diluting with water. Murphy® is safe to use on wood and laminated cabinets.
Step6
Dilute a floor cleaner with water and gently brush your wood cabinets. Follow by rinsing the cabinets with cold water. This works well on cabinets painted with medium to high gloss paint.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check the label before using any household spray cleaner to ensure that you can use it on laminates. Test on an inconspicuous area.
  • Avoid using steel wool or abrasive cleaners, as they'll scratch the surface.
