How to Use the Free F-Secure Online Virus Scanner

The F-Secure Online Virus Scanner is a free service that allows you to find out if your computer is infected with a virus and clean your PC when it is needed. Since new viruses are introduced on a daily basis, F-Secure Online Virus Scanner automatically downloads new virus database definitions to keep the software up to date and your computer safe.

Instructions

1. Go to the F-Secure website and click on downloads section to find the F-Secure Online Virus Scanner. To install the scanner, click on "Start Scanning". Read all the end user license agreements and click on "Accept."

2. Select whether a "Full System Scan" or a "Custom Scan." A "Full System Scan" will scan all drives and directories on the computer, while a "Custom Scan" allows you to customize which drives and directories for the virus scanner to scan. Once you choose an option, the virus scanner installs the virus scanner and virus database definitions and starts a system scan of your computer.

3. Leave your computer on while the virus scanner is scanning your system for virus and spyware. When it is finished, you can delete all of the malicious files on your system. A report is generated when F-Secure has finished scanning and cleaning your computer of infected files.

4. Use the F-Secure Online Virus Scanner frequently to keep your computer free from any malicious files. Unlike many other programs, F-Secure does not install on your "Desktop" or in the "Start Menu". To initiate a scan, you must go to the F-Secure website and click on "Start Scanning" in the F-Secure Online Virus Scanner page.
