As TVs get bigger, it seems like storage space is at a premium in most entertainment centers. This can be troublesome, especially if you're used to using that free space to hold toys, mementos and other knick-knacks. But there are some ways to create more storage space in your entertainment center quickly and easily.

Choose the right entertainment center. Starting off with the right foundation goes a long way to finding extra storage space. Modular units are popular and allow you to add on more pieces as the need arises.

Manage the wires to save space. Good wire management is essential to finding more space in your entertainment center. Confine all the games, DVD players and cable boxes to one area of the center, and twist all the wire together and place them out of sight. If you do it properly, you need only a small space to house a wide variety of multimedia equipment.

Unclutter the entertainment center. You're probably never going to watch those old VCR tapes, so don't keep them where the action is. Put them in a box and place them in a closet or up in the attic to free up space for items you use more often.

Buy some canvas totes or colorful boxes and place them on the shelves of your entertainment center. Assign each family member a box, and let them fill the boxes with items they use all the time. You can store quite a bit this way, but the look is clean and uncluttered.
