How to Pick a Single Lever Faucet

A single lever faucet is much more convenient compared with a double lever faucet: There is only one handle to turn. You don't have to turn two different knobs to get your water to the perfect temperature. This type of faucet is functional as well as stylish. Replacing your old faucet with a newer one can really spruce up your kitchen or bathroom.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consider the decor of the room. The style of faucet you choose should match the room. Maybe your kitchen is rustic; you wouldn't want to put a shiny, modern faucet in there. Realize that there are many newer styles coming out so your options will be extensive.

  2. Step 2

Think about your needs. If the faucet is going in the kitchen, you'll need the faucet to swivel for you to use both sides of a double or an extra wide single sink, as are common in a kitchen. If it's going in the bathroom, this won't be an issue. Also, consider the size you're looking for, as these faucets can be tall and curved or short and straight.

  3. Step 3

Know the difference between top mount and bottom mount faucets--top mount is easier to install but bottom mount looks a bit cleaner.

  4. Step 4

Go to your local home improvement store and look at the displays. Play with the levers and find one that feels comfortable.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your current sink has three holes in it (two for temperature controls and one for the faucet itself), look for a single lever faucet with a wide base. That way it'll cover up the existing holes.
  • Consider getting a faucet with a sprayer that pulls out. If you use the sprayer often, you'll save yourself some time and money by incorporating it into the faucet you're buying.
