1
Start after the last toilet use of the night to ensure baking soda has time to settle.
-
2
Clean the Bowl ~ Clean the inside of your toilet bowl with the toilet brush. Remove all marks and mildew.
-
-
3
Sprinkle ~ Sprinkle 1/2 cup baking soda into the toilet bowl water.
-
4
Swirl ~ Use the toilet brush to swirl (not scrub) the baking soda around. Try to swirl water as high up in the bowl as possible without splashing on yourself.
-
5
Leave Overnight ~ Leave the baking soda/water to work overnight. The baking soda will combat mildew while providing a slick coating on the inside walls of your toilet bowl. This coating will work to repel marks.
-
6
Repeat Nightly ~ Every night, after the last toilet use, sprinkle a bit of baking soda into the toilet bowl and swirl. Leave overnight. You should not have to scrub your toilet bowl nightly.

Baking soda is excellent, thanks for these tips. I'll keep some in our lower level bathroom that doesn't get used very often so there is often a ring. -

This is pretty interesting. I have quite a few baking soda articles. Perhaps we should link them together.
