A brilliant set of instructions from Craftster Forums how to make a tape wallet.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a tape in which you are willing to part with its magnetic tape guts
  • wire cutters
  • screw driver
  • rubber band
  1. Step 1

Take out the screws, open up the tape and remove the magnetic tape, the spools and any steel parts.

  2. Step 2

Use wire cutters to remove any jutting part within the tape which might get in the way of storing your money.

  3. Step 3

Now close up the tape, making all joints and edges meet. Place the tape on a flat surface and make it rest on its wider lengthwise edge (where the tape used to be read by the machine). Use the wire cutters to again carve out a little lengthwise hole hole on one of the two halves of the tape. The hole is meant to be only big enough to accommodate a rubber band to be explained soon.

  4. Step 4

Place two pieces of tape either side of the hole to make a hinge.

  5. Step 5

Insert a rubber band through the rectangular hole you made and let half of it sick out.

  6. Step 6

Put your money into the inside half of the rubber band within the tape. Then close up the two halves, and pull the outside half of the rubber band over the rest of the tape to enclose it.

Tips & Warnings
  • This wallet also doubles as a card holder, ID container, notes keeper, etc. The cool possibilities are endless.
  • If you want to hide the contents of your clear-case wallet, try adding an internal sort of wallpaper to cover the tape (e.g. stamps, stickers).
  • Try out a black, opaque tape if you'd rather not want people to see what your wallet holds.
