If you are looking to build a full wardrobe and you have a limited budget, consider shopping in used clothing stores. Used clothing stores offer a variety of clothing at affordable prices. You can shop for used clothing in physical stores or online.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

The first step in building a full wardrobe is to take a current inventory of your closet. Take note at what you have, what you would like to get rid of and what you need. Be sure to note your current sizing for each clothing type to make it easier for you when you start shopping. If there are things that you are never going to wear again, consider donating them to a charity. If the unwanted items are in great condition or are new, consider selling them to a consignment shop to generate some capital for your shopping trip.

  2. Step 2

As you are building your shopping list, be sure to include the staples to build any wardrobe.

    Winter Staples:

Winter Coat- wool and navy or black

Parka or other jacket that is waterproof

    Wool or other knit sweaters

    White long sleeved tailored shirt

    Long, warm skirts

    Hooded sweatshirt

    A great pair of jeans

    3-5 long sleeved shirts

    2-3 pairs of boots

    Gloves

    Hats

    Scarves

    Summer Staples

    Several pairs of shorts

    A light cardigan

    Several lighter fabric t-shirts

    A knee length skirt

    Summer cotton dress

    Swimsuit and cover up

    Short sleeved button up shirt

    Polo shirt

    Big hat

    Sandles

After you have taken your closet inventory and compared it to the above staple list, you are ready to start shopping for used clothes.

  3. Step 3

As you start your search, look for deep discounts at flea markets and thrift stores. These stores will have a large volume to select from and often have the deepest discounts. You will need to set aside a large amount of time to search and dig though all of the clothing items, but you are sure to leave with a handful of great clothing items at affordable prices.

If you are looking for a shopping experience that it more organized, start your shopping in resale shops. The price range will vary here and there will be a selection from new to very used clothes.

If you are looking for newer clothes and you don't mind spending a higher amount per item, shop in consignment shops. The clothing that is offered is generally from the past few years and is sold for up to 60% off the suggested retail pricing. If you don't want to shop in a physical location, you can shop online in either consignment shops or auction sites.

  4. Step 4

When you are shopping for used clothing, be sure to review the clothing items over for defects prior to purchasing. If you are online, read the item descriptions carefully, work with a reputable site and be sure to take into account the shipping cost before you make your purchase. Shopping for used clothing is a great way to build your wardrobe at an affordable price.
