Make Chorizo

Chorizo is made by chopping or grinding the pork and “marinating” it in spices and then adding the chorizo to other foods like eggs or potatoes or like a sausage on the side. Here is a simple, tasty recipe to make your own homemade chorizo.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. ground lean pork
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
  • 2 Tablespoons vinegar
  1. Step 1

Take one pound of ground lean pork into a bowl and add in all the ingredients. Mix it around like you would a meat loaf and use your hands to mix the ingredients.

  2. Step 2

Allow it to sit overnight in the refrigerator.

  3. Step 3

Form into patties as your would any other sausage or crumble it into scrambled eggs or potatoes to add a tasty, spicy flavor.

on 6/11/2009 For those looking to make authentic chorizo, this recipe will disappoint. The end result taste more like taco meat than the chorizo you may be used to getting in an authentic mexican restaurant or grocery store.
