Crab rangoon -- fried dumplings usually stuffed with crab meat, cream cheese and spices -- is a staple at most American Chinese restaurants. Adding a few different ingredients when making crab rangoon at home can sweeten the filling. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 1/2 lb fresh crab meat, drained and chopped, or canned crab meat.
  • 1/2 tsp. A-1 Steak Sauce
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 8 oz. package cream cheese at room temperature
  • 3 dozen won-ton wrappers
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Food processor
  • Spoon
  • Butter brush
  • Deep fryer

Instructions

      Combine the crab meat, steak sauce, sugar and garlic powder in the food processor and mix until it forms a paste-like consistency.

      Place a dollop of the mixture on each won ton wrapper with a spoon. Grab each of the four corners of the wrapper and pull together. Pinch the corners to seal.

      Brush a bit of egg yolk on each won ton wrapper where you've sealed it. The yolk further enhances the seal.

      Set your deep fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Drain the crab rangoons on a rack or paper towels.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use a deep pan and drop the crab rangoons in and cook until golden brown if you don't have a deep fryer.
