Things You'll Need:
- A group of willing people
-
Step 1
Summer is the time when night hiking is fun for everyone. It is a time for romance, fun, stories and jokes. Start with your group. How many are you going to take with you? 3? 6? What ever you choose make sure everyone knows who is in the group and how many should come back compared the how many left together!
-
Step 2
Decide on a trial. If it is a mountain or country trail hike it first in the day light so you know what to expect. Know your way and know your way back! The point is not to get lost, but to have fun and a great story when you return.
-
Step 3
Make sure everyone is wearing closed toe shoes. This is for safety reasons. Have at least one person in the group carry a first aid kit just in case there is an accident along the way.
-
Step 4
Be sure to leave the place you will be hiking with someone else and what time to expect you to return. If you are not back in time and they cannot contact you, you will have someone to start a search for you.
-
Step 5
Everyone one should carry a flashlight. Be sure the person in the front and the back have a good light. They should have wrist straps in case of a fall the flashlight won't roll away. Also everyone should carry a bottle of water in case they need it.
-
Step 6
Begin your hike into the country side with good chatter and small talk. Once you have been hiking for about 5 minutes stop everyone and have the turn off the lights. Check out the sky for stars or UFO's. Listen to the sound of the night and try to identify a few for everyone.
-
Step 7
Now it is time to begin the fun. One person will tell a story about how they came this way last summer, but the trail was closed due to an accident. Tell them you later learned it was an attack of some kind, but no one could tell you by what. Let everyone laugh and soon you will hear them begin to get nervous.
-
Step 8
Ask if they have heard any reports of Bigfoot sighting in the area. When they all laugh, just say you didn't REALLY hear anything either, but because of last years attack you just want to be sure. Next ask if anyone knows what a bob cat is or if coyotes eat people? Ask if the smell something funny. You will of course have along with you some very strong smelling scent such as old meat or a hard boiled egg.
-
Step 9
Carry green grapes with you and in the dark toss a feet at a time in front of feet. It helps if you are in the lead. Tell everyone you stepped on something that felt like a bug! Grapes feel like really big bugs when you step on them.
-
Step 10
By this time everyone is telling you to shut up. So be a little quieter for a while. But in a short time ask if they heard the sound! When they say no, look quickly off into the dark and tell everyone you saw something and you're going to check it out.
-
Step 11
KNOW WHERE YOU ARE! Once out of their site stay quiet for a few moments. Come back and say it's time to head back. NOW! When they ask what is wrong, just say something and it's time to go home. Pick up the pace and the others will follow. Then suddenly stop.
-
Step 12
Tell everyone to sit down and you'll tell them what you saw. This is when you make up a great story about seeing Bigfoot in a most loving position with another Bigfoot. Build your story from there. This is for fun. Now is a good time to lean back, look at the star's and ask everyone to tell the scariest experience. Or their funniest in the world of the country side. When you arrive back home safe they party will be more fun for all. They know each other in a way they didn't before. They all have something to talk about now and who will choose to lead the next night hike!
