How to Acquire Mog in the World of Light in Final Fantasy 6
As cuddly and adorable as he is deadly in combat, the moogle named Mog will periodically join with the party throughout the course of Final Fantasy 6. He can be added as a permanent member for the majority of the beginning world of light segment of the game, however.

1
Make your way through the beginning areas of the game until you reach the portion where you witness the Esper world being attacked by the Empire and your party gains control of Setzer's airship.
-
2
Fly to the town called Narshe and speak with the leader of the group called the Returners. Once the segment with him explaining that you should try to reach the Esper realm is complete, leave his house and go to the home that is filled with treasure chests. The thief named Lone Wolf will be seen there stealing something out of a chest, but he will run away as soon as he notices the party has entered the room.
-
-
3
Pursue Lone Wolf through the mine shafts until you reach the mountain area where the frozen Esper is being held. Mog will be there, and Lone Wolf will grab him and threaten to hurt him if the party doesn't back off.
-
4
Stay in the same place and don't move towards Lone Wolf at all. In a few moments, Mog will throw Lone Wolf off of him but both of them will fall off the mountain.
-
5
Run to the spot where Mog and Lone Wolf fell and choose the option to help Mog instead of Lone Wolf. The party will pull Mog up to safety, and he will then join the party for the remainder of the "World of Light" section of the game.

Tips & Warnings
Mog's "Dance" ability gains different powers depending on what sort of terrain Mog has battled on. Try taking Mog to different places such as plains, forests, deserts, and towns.
If you choose to help Lone Wolf instead of Mog, you will get the "Gold Hairpin" relic that Lone Wolf stole from the house. While this relic is a powerful item, there will be several other instances where the party can acquire the same item.
Choosing to help Lone Wolf instead of Mog will prevent you from being able to add Mog to your party until you reach the World of Ruin.
Mog's water dance can only be gained in the World of Light, so be sure to get it before entering the World of Ruin!
