Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Check your PC manual to figure out what kind of hard drive would be compatible with your computer system. The common types of hard drives are IDE (also known as PATA) and SATA.
Step2
Decide what your needs are. Once you have determined what kind of hard drive you require. Next, you will need to figure out how much room you will want on that hard drive and what kind of speed you need to have. Try to get the most gigs that you can for the best price. If you play a lot of games or watch many movies then you will want to have a lot of room on your hard drive. Game installs and media can take up a lot of space. Speed is also something you might consider. Hitachi hard drives come in a variety of speeds. Remember that more RPM’s on your hard drive mean less loading time for the data on it.
Step3
Visit local retail stores to see what kind of prices are available on Hitachi hard drives. You should be able to find them in abundance, as Hitachi is a major supplier for hard drives. Best Buy < (888) 237-8289> and Fry's Electronics < (877) 688-7678> are excellent stores to visit and they are located in most major towns and cities.
Step4
Visit Hitachi Global Storage Technologies < (800) 801-4618> to find a hard drive that you need. If you cannot buy one locally, this will be your best course of action.
