Things You'll Need:
- 5-pointed star stencil or cookie cutter (the bigger the better)
- White, red or green felt
- White poster board
- Black, white and red poster paint
- 1 cotton ball
- Black fine line marker
- Gold glitter
- Craft glue
- 6-inch length of red, green or gold embroidery thread
- Scissors
- Razor knife (optional)
-
Step 1
Use the star stencil or a star cookie cutter to draw 5-pointed stars on the poster board and on the felt. Make one felt star for every poster board star. Cut out the felt stars with the scissors and the poster board stars with the razor knife or the scissors.
-
Step 2
Tie a loop into the embroidery thread and glue it to the top of the star just below the point on the back.
-
Step 3
Paint the poster board like this. The two lower points are the legs. Paint about one third of the way from the point up black for Santa's boots. Paint the rest of these points red for Santa's pants. Paint the arms red. Leave an inch or about a third of the tip of each arm white for the hands. Paint the hat (the top third of the top point) red. Paint the center of the star red except for a rectangle for Santa's belt at the bottom along the top of the legs. Paint Santa's belt black. Leave Santa's face white.
-
Step 4
Cut the cotton ball and fluff it out to make a triangular beard. Glue this in place. Use the fine line black marker to draw in Santa's facial features. Dot on a little bit of paint to make his lips and cheeks red.
-
Step 5
Glue the felt star to the back of the painted paper star Santa Claus ornament after all the paint and glue is dried. Then, let this glue dry and get busy decorating the house or classroom for Christmas.
