Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large pillow forms
  • White fabric
  • Fabric of your choice
  • Sewing machine
  • Velcro
  • Thread
  • Zipper
  1. Step 1

Purchase pillow forms. Choose large pillow forms for floor pillows. It is recommended that you try them out on the store floor for comfort and size. Purchase varying sizes and shapes such as a few squares and a rectangle.

  2. Step 2

Make a pillow case. Measure the pillow form using a tape measure. Transfer the measurements to the fabric. Add at least 1 inch but not more than 2 inches to each of the measurements and mark with chalk. Cut the fabric. Sew three sides of the fabric together so that the seam (sewn edge) is the same measurement as the pillow form. Use a zigzag stitch around the very edge of the fabric to avoid fraying. Turn this fabric outside in so the seam is inside and there is a smooth edge along the outside. Sew in a zipper onto the forth side.

  3. Step 3

Sew the decorative pillow cover. Using the fabric of your choice, create the decorative cover in the same manner you made the pillow case.

  4. Step 4

You may prefer to use a Velcro enclosure instead of a zipper. With the fourth side, sew Velcro on each side of the fabric so that when the pillow cover is on the pillow form the Velcro will close at the base. To sew a clean edge, fold the fabric over, iron the seam and then sew the Velcro on the pillow cover. By folding over the seam, you will not need to use the zigzag stitch.

  5. Step 5

Washing and/or changing your pillow covers.Becuase of the velcro or zipper closure, washing and changing pillow covers is simple.
