How to Get Free Children's Books From Dolly Parton

A program created by the Dollywood Foundation, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library started providing one free age-appropriate book per month to children in Sevier County, Tennessee, in 1996. The program was such a huge success that today Parton partners with communities around the United States, Canada and United Kingdom to do the same. To enroll your children, follow these simple steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit www.dollysimaginationlibrary.com, and select whether you live in the United States, United Kingdom or Canada.

    • 2

Search for your zip code under "find your affiliate" to make sure your community is registered as a participant in the program.

    • 3

If your community is listed, click on "First Time Visitors." Then click "I would like to enroll my child." If you are the parent or legal guardian for the child you wish to enroll, accept the terms of use.

    • 4

Complete the online registration by entering in your email address, city, state, zip code and country.

    • 5

Insert your child's date of birth, and complete other blanks requesting information to finalize your order.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your community is not currently enrolled in the Imagination Library program, contact city officials. The community pays for all the books and mailing, promotes the program, registers the children and enters their name into a database. From there, the Dollywood Foundation takes over, hand selecting Penguin Group books for each age group.

  • If you would prefer not to register your child online, simply search the "affiliates" section of the site for the regional contact information for representatives in your area.
