Instructions

    • 1

Choose an appropriate pot or vase to plant your miniature bamboo plant in. Large pots with straight sides work best, as the roots of bamboo tend to grow outward quickly and the plant will need a good base to keep itself standing up straight.

    • 2

Plant the bamboo in your pot with a suitable potting soil. Like most indoor potted plants, bamboo grows best in a loamy soil, and most varieties of the plant prefer soil that has at least some acidity.

    • 3

Water the bamboo in moderation so that the soil is never consistently damp or too frequently dry. Spray a fine mist of water on the bamboo's leaves at least once a day if the plant isn't located in a humid area.

    • 4

Remove any yellow or wilted leaves. This is a sign that your bamboo isn't doing well and means you will probably need to adjust how frequently you are watering and the amount of sunlight the plant is receiving.

    • 5

Bring the bamboo inside during cold spells if you are keeping your bamboo on a deck or patio. Most types of bamboo will be unable to survive freezing temperatures or any amount of snowfall.
