How to Play Spit In The Ocean Poker
Spit In The Ocean Poker is a variation of five card draw poker. Unlike many versions of five card draw poker there are no wild cards in Spit In The Ocean Poker. It does combine one aspect of Texas Hold 'Em though, as there is a common card that is shared by everyone. Overall, Spit In The Ocean is a fun five card draw game for a relatively large home poker game.

Gather your friends together for a home poker game, with Spit In The Ocean Poker as the main poker variation for the evening. You can have more players in a game of Spit In The Ocean Poker than in most five card draw poker variations. Up to eight players can play in a game of Spit In The Ocean Poker.

Deal four cards face down to each player. At some point during the deal, one of the players will say "spit." When "spit" is called, flip the top card of the deck up in the middle of the table and continue dealing the face down cards until each player has four.

Pick up your cards. Each player can pick up their four face down cards. Their hand is those four cards along with the "spit" card which is shared in the middle of the table. There are no wild cards in Spit In The Ocean Poker.

Conduct a betting round. The player to the left of the dealer starts the first wagering round.

Discard up to two cards from your hand. You may discard three if you have an ace in your hand.

Deal each player the same number of face down cards as the number of cards they discarded.

Conduct one more betting round. This second wagering round is started by the player sitting two seats to the left of the dealer.

Reveal your cards. All players that have not folded now reveal their cards and declare their hand. The player with the best poker hand wins the pot.

Tips & Warnings
Spit In The Ocean can be played with this standard variation, or you can play it as a split pot variation. If you play the split pot variation the high poker hand and the low poker hand would each receive half of the pot.
Without having any wild cards in Spit In The Ocean, betting typically is rather low. If someone starts betting big with a small pot, it's best to fold. The reward isn't worth the risk.
