The pogo stick has generally been viewed as a toy for children ages 8 and up. In reality, the pogo stick is great for aerobic exercises. It is simple enough to use and can be a lot of fun. It makes working out enjoyable and exciting for adults who may not do well with traditional workout routines.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Buy a pogo stick that is conducive to exercise. The Flybar 800 is probably your best bet if you weigh less than 180 lbs. If you weigh over 180 lbs. you will need the Flybar 1200 which costs $100 more.
Step2
Take your pogo stick to an area that has a flat surface. Hold the pogo stick in front of your body with one hand on each of the handle bars.
Step3
Place one foot on the foot rest and get ready to place the other foot on quickly. When you place your second foot on you are going to begin pressing down with both feet at once to make the pogo stick bounce. Then let up as you go up in the air and press down again when you hit the flat surface. You may have to try it a few time to get the hang of it. Don't get frustrated if you don't get it on the first try.
Step4
While you are jumping it is important to keep the pogo stick close to you and directly in front of you. Otherwise you may fall off or lose control of the pogo stick.
Step5
Like most exercises you need to create some reps and know how many jumps you are going to do in each rep. You may want to start out small. Try 25 jumps then stop for a minute break. Do 25 more and take a break. Do this a total of 4 times. That is 100 jumps. This should take a total of less than 8 minutes to complete. As you are comfortable work your way up to 250 jumps in each rep doing 4 reps in all. That's a total of 1000 jumps.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pogo sticks are great for: lowering cholesterol, lowering triglyceride levels, strengthening the heart, helping to fix tissue, increasing balance, and increasing muscles while decreasing fat. Of course you should always seek a doctor's permission before engaging in any type of exercise routine.
  • You should wear the same protective gear skateboarders wear when you use your pogo stick to protect you from any injury.
  • Don't try any tricks on your pogo stick until you have mastered jumping normally.
