When you are eating a yummy snack and your beloved pooch looks up at you with those big, sad eyes, it can be difficult to say no. However, most "people food" just isn't healthy for dogs. You can make these tasty treats and feel good about giving them to your pup.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 large apple
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1-1/2 cups plus 1/8 cup whole wheat flour
  • Paring knife
  • Large bowl
  • Small bowl
  • Cookie sheets
  • Spoon
  • Glass
  1. Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Slice and core apple and then slice it into small pieces.

  2. Step 2

Combine the apple, honey, water, cinnamon, and oatmeal in a large bowl, stirring until well blended. Gradually mix in the 1 1/2 cups of flour. Blend well until a stiff dough is formed.

  3. Step 3

Spoon dough by rounded teaspoon onto the cookie sheets. Space the spoonfuls about two inches apart on the sheet.

  4. Step 4

Pour the remaining wheat flour into the small bowl. Dip the glass into the flour and press down the first spoonful of dough. Repeat with the remaining cookies.

  5. Step 5

Bake for 30 minutes and remove from oven. Reduce heat to 325. Flip the cookies over on the cookie sheet and return cookies to the oven. Bake for an additional thirty minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool and harden overnight or for about eight hours.
