    1. How to Draw Darth Vader

      • 1

Draw the guidelines and general shapes associated with Darth Vader. Start with the head, a sort of sideways oval that is flatter on top for the top of the helmet. Continue from the shoulders to draw the outline of his cape, all the way down to his feet. Outline the torso with a rounded square shape, as well as the arms and legs, all centered within the outline of the cape. Draw guidelines on these shapes, to have references as you continue the drawing. For example, it will look like you have cross-hairs within the head; a line down the middle, and a line across just above the eyes to help draw the helmet.

      • 2

Sketch out the helmet. Using the guidelines of the head, make two arcs above the eyes, which connect to the wing-like parts on the sides. Below the eyes, make two parallel lines on each side that come out at an angle from near the nose to the sides of the chin. Fill in the outlines of the arms and hands. Draw lines down the cape for detail and add some details to the suit.

      • 3

Draw in details of Darth Vader’s belt, including his lightsaber. Add more lines to detail the cape and add the grill lines on the mouth part of the helmet.

      • 4

Draw in lines to form creases in Darth Vader’s clothing. This will make the drawing more realistic. For the most part, these will be along the arms and down the legs of his suit.

      • 5

Draw in the series of buttons that cover the panel on the front chest part of Darth Vader’s suit. Erase any guidelines you made at the beginning of the drawing, if they still stand out.
