How to Make Lo-Fat Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal With Brown Sugar

Things You'll Need
- 1 cup of water
- 3/4 cup of unsweetened apple juice
- 2 tablespoons of currants
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup of regular oats, uncooked
- 2 1/2 tablespoons of instant nonfat dry milk (powder) or non-fat milk (equivalent to powdered milk)
- 2/3 cup of chopped apples
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of brown sugar
- Medium saucepan

Combine 1 cup of water, 3/4 cup of unsweetened apple juice, 2 tablespoons of currants and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon in a saucepan; bring to a boil.

Add 3/4 cup of oats and the powdered milk or non-fat milk with mixture; cook over medium heat for approximately 8 minutes, stirring occasionally to avoid oatmeal sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Remove the oatmeal mixture from heat; add the chopped apples and 1 1/2 teaspoons of brown sugar.

Cover the oatmeal with a lid and let stand for approximately 5 minutes to give the apples time to soften.
