Do you get frustrated sometimes when you have to choose how many cards you have to discard in a game of draw poker? Do you sometimes get frustrated when you have to go for a three of a kind hand or straight, or maybe even a flush? Well, if you would prefer a game that limits your discard decisions, "All For One Poker" is a great option. "All For One Poker" limits how many cards a player can discard from her original poker hand, making it only possible for a player to discard just one, or all of the cards. You might think this limits the amount of tough decisions that can be made in "All For One Poker", but after playing a few hands, you will find "All For One Poker" is as tough as any other draw poker game there is.

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Gather a maximum of five friends for a game of "All For One Poker". Because there is a chance each player will receive five original cards (and then decide to discard all five cards), the maximum number of players allowed to play the game is limited to five people.

  2. Step 2

Deal five cards face down to each player. Instruct each player to review his cards.

  3. Step 3

Conduct a betting round. The player to the left of the dealer begins the first round of bidding.

  4. Step 4

Decide how many cards you will discard. As mentioned in the introduction to this game, you only have two choices. You can either discard one or all of your cards.

  5. Step 5

Deal either one or five face down cards to each player. The number of cards you deal to each player is equal to the number of cards he decided to discard. After all players have received cards, instruct each to review them.

  6. Step 6

Conduct a second round of wagering. The player sitting two seats to the left of the dealer will initiate this betting round.

  7. Step 7

Reveal your cards. Each player reveals their five cards and declares their hand. The player with the best poker hand wins the pot.

Tips & Warnings
  • There are many different variations you can add to "All For One Poker" to spice up the game. You can add a wild card to increase the likelihood of higher hands in the game. You can also declare a minimum hand to win. If no player has a willing hand, the pot remains the same. Begin another round of "All For One Poker" and add the wagers to the previous pot.
  • Middle pairs on the initial deal in "All For One Poker" can be trap hands. In general, a middle pair is unlikely to win. For this reason, you should usually discard all five cards. If you are playing with less than five players, and there are no wild cards, the decision becomes much tougher.
