The first thing you need is a smoker. Instructions on how to make one can be found in the resources section. A commercial one works well to, but can be expensive.
Step2
Now light a fire in your smoker. You need to get it hot, so let it burn for 20 minutes or so before adding the meat. Once your meat is in you want to smoke it at a temperature of about 240 degrees F. By controlling the fire you can regulate the temperature.
Step3
You will have to smoke it until it is evenly cooked through out. Every roast is different but for a estimate a 5 pound roast will take about 5-6 hours. But once your smoker is at the right temperature it will not take much maintenance to keep it there except checking the fire every hour and adjusting as necessary.
Step4
Once it is cooked through out it is ready to eat. Get out the barbecue sauce and enjoy!
Tips & Warnings
Do not use soft wood for the fire, there sap will taint the meats flavor.
experiment with other hardwoods for different flavor.
fire is hot! use gloves when checking it or adding wood.
