A plain black sweater is must have for any fashionable woman's wardrobe. It can be paired with dress slacks, jeans, or even a skirt. The problem can arise that a plain black sweater on it's own may not be dressy enough. This is particularly true when it is paired with a solid colored pair of pants. To make your plain black sweater more versatile then it already is, you need to know how to dress it up.

- 1 beaded chain necklace
- 1 large belt
- 3 to 4 bangle bracelets

Put on the plain black sweater. Make sure to leave the sweater untucked. This will give you more space to dress up this fashion basic.

Place the large belt at the smallest portion of your waist. Tightly cinch the waist of the belt until it will stay where you have placed it. This will add a punch of color to your sweater as well as help to define your waist.

Drape a long beaded necklace around your neck twice. The necklace needs to be long enough so that it still hangs well below the neckline of the sweater even after it has been draped twice. A metallic beaded necklace works great to dress up a plain black sweater.

Place 3 to 4 metal bangle bracelets on your arm. This bracelets should all be kept on one arm for the proper affect. Coordinate the metallic color of the bracelets with the necklace.

A large brightly colored leather belt is one of the best options for a large belt for this look. You can also use a metal belt or a large scarf tied around your waist for an even more unique look.
In place of the necklace, you can substitute a brooch on the neckline of the sweater. You will want the brooch to have some colorful stones that will play off the color of the belt.
Keep the accessories to a maximum of three when you are dressing up a plain black sweater. Anything more then this will make your look look messy and disorganized.
