Things You'll Need:
- Pre-cooked Alaskan King Crab Legs
- A Large Pot or Cooking Pan
- Water
-
Step 1
Thaw crab legs in the refrigerator at a temperature of no more than 38 degrees. If you are in a hurry, you can also run cold water over the legs, bending them at the joints and pushing on the middle sections to help them thaw.
-
Step 2
If you plan to make a King Crab Leg salad, crack open a few of the legs, and pull the meat out. Store the meat in the fridge for up to 2 days, if necessary. Otherwise, turn the burner on the stove or the flame on in the oven, if you prefer, and get out your pot or pan.
-
Step 3
If you're boiling or steaming your King Crab Legs, place them in a very large pot filled with water. For boiling, the water line should be just over the tops of the King Crab Legs. If you're steaming them instead, place a small amount of water (an inch will do) at the bottom of the pot, and place the legs directly inside or on a steamer. If you have a particular seasoning to use, put it into the water, and sprinkle a bit on the legs, as well. If baking or broiling, place King Crab Legs on a large baking or broiling pan, sprinkle with seasonings and a little olive oil, then place them in the oven.
-
Step 4
Depending on the size of the legs, boiling should take about 4 minutes, and steaming should only take 5-8 minutes. If you are baking at a temperature of 275 degrees farenheit, check the legs after about 8 minutes. They should be glistening red and steaming a bit. If broiling, check after 4 minutes. Be sure not to over-cook Alaskan King Crab Legs as it will compromise the texture and taste.
-
Step 5
Serve with nut or crab crackers and a bowl of melted butter with or without garlic. For those who love spice, add a few drops of Tabasco or Cajun seasoning to the butter. Enjoy!
