How to Create a Screenshot in Windows

Have you ever seen articles on eHow or blogs where the author has included a screenshot from his or her own computer? Continue reading to discover how simple it is to create screenshots of your own.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A computer
  • Paint, or a similar program
  1. Step 1
    Hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard.
    Hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard.

    When your screen contains the image that you want to capture, hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard. It will seem as if nothing has happened but you will soon see that it has.

  2. Step 2
    Choose Edit, and then Paste.
    Choose Edit, and then Paste.

    Open up MS Paint or a similar program (Paint can be found under Accessories in the My Programs section of the Start menu.) Choose 'Edit' and then 'Paste' (or hold down the Ctrl button and the V button at the same time) and your screenshot will appear.

  3. Step 3

    Edit your screenshot as desired. You may want to crop it to focus on the part of the image that is most important.

  4. Step 4

    Save the image and then upload it like you would any other picture. It's that simple!

Tips & Warnings
  • The Print Screen button is usually found in the upper right portion of your keyboard.
  • Holding down the Alt button while you hit Print Screen will capture only the active window.
  • In addition to using screenshots for the web, they can also be copied into documents.
