How to Clean a Ball Cap
Your favorite ball cap is dirty and you don't know what to do about it. Do you put it in the washer and have it come out disfigured or even torn? It is no longer necessary to wash your ball caps in the washing machine with other clothing items. You have a couple of options for cleaning ball caps without the threat of them being misformed after they are finished. Does this Spark an idea?

- Dirty ball cap
- Laundry detergent
- Dishwasher detergent
- Toothbrush
- Water supply
- Dishwasher

Gather all the materials needed. If the ball cap is not terribly dirty, you may simply want to use carpet cleaner and a toothbrush on it. If your ball cap is really dirty, you will need to take other measures to assure itscleanliness.

Locate the dirtiest portion of the cap. This is where you will start. Get the cap wet with your water supply. With the toothbrush, begin brushing the dirty area. This will loosen up some of the soil. Pour a small drop of dishwashing liquid on the soiled area. With the toothbrush, begin scrubbing the area. If more water is needed, add more to keep the soil from resettling on the material.

Rinse the cap with clean water but do not wring out excess. Place the cap in the top rack of your dishwasher. The water in your dishwasher gets extremely hot and hot water is great at getting out stains. Add your normal dishwasher detergent and begin the cycle.

Drying the cap is easy. Remove the cap from the dishwasher after they cycle has finished and make sure it is in tact all the way around. Take the cap outside and hang it on a fence post for drying purposes.

Tips & Warnings
If your cap still has stains after the dishwashing cycle has finished, you may want to repeat the steps again.
Sometimes carpet and upholstery cleaner will remove stains ordinary detergent will not.
Do Not add laundry detergent to your dishwasher!
Do not add bleach to a colored cap.
