How to Burn an HP Start Up CD
Having a start up CD for your HP computer is always a good idea. With the problems that can occur with computers, a start up CD is a great way to save your computer. Keep in mind that stored information is generally lost when using a start up CD, so back up all important documents and pictures that you have stored on your computer.

Start up your computer. Wait for your operating system to fully load. From your desk top, left-click on the start menu which is located on the lower left side of your computer screen. This will bring up a list of the most used programs on your HP computer.

Scroll up to all programs. This will bring up a list of all of the available programs on your HP computer. Make sure to keep your cursor within the list to keep the list viewable on your computer screen. The list will populate in the center of your computer screen.

Move your cursor to the PC Help and Tools option. Keep your cursor on the option. At this point, it should be highlighted. Once highlighted, a new list of options will appear to the right. Move your cursor to that side.

Scroll down to the option that says HP PC Recovery CD-DVD Creator. The option to create your recovery CD or DVD will open now into a new window. Click on that window so that the top is highlighted. You are now in the HP PC Recovery CD-DVD Creator.

Insert a blank CD or DVD into your HP computer's drive. Click Next in the new window designated for your recovery CD. You will be walked through the process.

Tips & Warnings
Depending on the capability of the CD, it may be necessary to use more that one CD to create a recovery CD for your computer. The program will let you know if it has ran out of room, in which case, you will need to insert another CD.
Be prepared for the process to take some time. Depending on the speed of your computer, burning a recovery CD for your HP computer can take several hours.
Generally, your HP computer will only allow you to create one recovery CD. Make sure that you keep your recovery CD in a safe place for potential future use. Even though you can only create one recovery CD, it is possible to use it more than once should the need arise.
