How to Burn an AVI Video Clip to a CD-R

Numerous websites allow you to download AVI video clips onto your computer. You may at some time wish to watch these clips on a different computer, though. Downloading them onto that computer may not be possible, such as if you're at the office or at school. By putting your AVI video clips on a CD-R, you can watch them on any computer. This is a very simple process and only takes a few moments to complete.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin by placing a blank CD-R into your computer via the CD Drive.

    • 2

Open the folder on your computer which holds your AVI video clips.

    • 3

Right-click on the title of the AVI video clip which you wish to burn onto a CD-R.

    • 4

Select “Send To” and then choose the CD-R icon found in the box that is opened. The blank CD-R will be the last option available. It will also most likely be the “D” drive on your computer. This will send that AVI video clip to the CD-R folder.

    • 5

Choose “Start” which is found on the toolbar at the bottom of your computer screen.

    • 6

Open “My Computer” and then double-click on the blank CD-R, which will open the folder for the CD. You should see the titles of the AVI video clip(s) which you wish to burn onto the CD-R. These titles will be found underneath the “Files Ready to be Written to the CD” heading.

    • 7

Right click in the folder next to one of the AVI video clip titles. This will open a small box with several options to choose. Select “Write these files to CD.” This should be the sixth option overall. Choosing this will open the CD Writing Wizard.

    • 8

Give your CD a name by typing one in the box found underneath the “CD name” heading. If you decide not to name the CD, it will automatically be named the current date. If, for example, you're burning the CD on December 3, the CD will be named “Dec 3.”

    • 9

Click “Next” and the AVI Video Clip(s) will begin to burn onto the CD-R. Once all titles have been successfully added to the CD, the CD may automatically eject itself. If this doesn't occur, simply remove the CD from your computer and the AVI Video Clips will have been added onto the CD.
