Instructions

    • 1

Using the lid for a pattern, trace a circle on the off white felt and cut out.

    • 2

Using the quarter as a pattern, trace a circle on the light pink felt and cut out.

    • 3

Using the dime as a pattern, trace a circle on the bright pink felt and cut out.

    • 4

Position the light pink circle on the off white felt a 1/4" from the edge. This will be the top edge of the design. Whip stitch around the light pink circle using two strands of the pink embroidery floss.

    • 5

Position the bright pink felt circle on top of the light pink felt circle and whip stitch around the circle using two strands of the pink embroidery floss.

    • 6

In the empty space below your felt flower head, chain stitch a green stem from the bottom of the flower to the bottom edge of the off white felt using the green embroidery floss.

    • 7

Cut the green felt circle in half and position the halves along the flower stem for the leaves. Whip stitch the green felt leaves using green embroidery floss.

    • 8

Stitch the bead in the center of the flower.

    • 9

Turn the canning jar lid upside down and apply craft glue to the inside opening of the ring.

    • 10

Insert the appliqued off white felt circle upside down in the ring. Allow the craft glue to dry thoroughly.

    • 11

Fill the inside of the canning ring with stuffing.

    • 12

Hot glue the canning lid just inside the bottom of the ring. This does not need to be pretty, it will be covered up.

    • 13

Apply craft glue to the bottom edge of the canning jar ring and set it on a scrap of off white felt. Place a heavy book on top of the jar lid pin cushion and allow the craft glue to dry.

    • 14

Cut the off white felt flush against the edge of the jar ring.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't throw away those old rusty canning jar lids. They may not be safe for food anymore, but their rustic condition will add to the charm of this pin cushion.
