Create a collage box to use as a storage and idea box for paper crafts that use collage. The collage box can be used to store different types of paper crafts and small paper objects used in collage. As your collage box collection grows, organize the materials by type or even color, and make more collage boxes to house your growing paper crafts arts and crafts collage makings.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One empty cereal box
  • Clear packing tape
  • One empty brown paper bag
  • Paper craft scraps
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • A craft knife
  • Magazines
  1. Step 1

Remove the wax paper bag from the inside of the empty cereal box. Empty out any stray cereal pieces. Close the top of the box with clear packing tape. Place the cereal box flat on the table, with the front of the box facing the ceiling.

  2. Step 2

Cut the front of the cereal box open, on three sides. Leave one side attached, to form the cover. This will make it easy to sort through the collage material when you're done making the collage box.

  3. Step 3

Cover the entire cereal box with the brown paper bag, cut to size. Use glue to attach the brown paper bag. Decorate the outside of the collage box with some collage materials cut from magazines. Glue them on to make the collage box decorative.

  4. Step 4

Fill the collage box with images and pictures cut out from magazines. Also print out images you like from the Internet. Add other paper crafts supplies that you can use in collages, including rice papers or tissue papers. Add cancelled stamps, clothing tags, and other paper labels and paper images that could inspire you. Add paint chips from the local home improvement store.

  5. Step 5

Sort through the collage box any time you are in the mood to make a collage. Use the images in the collage box to help jump start any artistic endeavor.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cut out images you like when you see them.
  • Create more than one collage box to keep collage materials organized and categorized.
  • Don't limit the types of images you put in the collage box.

on 8/5/2009 What a great idea. This could be great for children's art supplies too and they would love to make the box!

on 7/12/2009 What a great idea! I will try it. I found your article because the article that I just published listed your article as a related subject on my article's page. (I had written an article about art therapy collages).
