How to Make a Wolf Rug

- Fur or faux fur pelt
- Needle
- Thick thread
- Fabric backing
- Carpet treatment

Treat the fur pelt or prepare your faux fur pelt. If you are using a pelt from an actual animal, the fur could be dirty or will not hold up over time if you don’t treat it. Clean the fur and treat it with normal carpet treatment before you begin.

Lay out your faux fur or your real fur pelt. You can buy faux fur at Hollywood Love Rugs or another faux fur store.

Pick out your extra fabric. In order to make a fashionable rug, you will need to put a piece of fabric underneath the pelt to for a household rug. Silk is recommended, but any fabric you would like is fine.

Cut the fabric. Fit the fabric to the pelt and cut it in the same shape so that it will be hidden once you sew it onto the fur pelt.

Sew on the fabric. Use a thread color that blends in with the fur and use your sewing machine or a needle to sew the fabric around the edges to cover the bottom of the fur.

Tips & Warnings
If you don’t want to sew fabric to the bottom of the rug, make sure there are no blemishes on the skin of the animal so that it still makes a nice decorative rug.
If you are making the rugs to sell, you need to have a license before doing so. Make sure that you get clearance from officials before you begin to sell wolf rugs to others so that you don’t run the risk of getting into some sort of trouble.
