Step 1
Tailor your résumé to the position for which you're applying. Bring a copy or two with you to the interview.
-
Step 2
Pay attention to personal hygiene. As sad as it is to have to mention this, not all applicants bother to jump in the shower, put on a clean shirt and brush their teeth before sitting down for a job interview. Don't be one of those folks. Clean yourself up and always remember to use deodorant.
-
Step 3
Dress to impress. Other than being work-appropriate, always make sure that the clothes you're wearing to an interview are clean and pressed. It's also a good rule of thumb to dress a bit better than the position for which you're applying.
-
Step 4
Mind your manners. Be friendly, yet polite using proper grammar and etiquette. No matter how you speak at home, refrain from using profanity during your interview.
-
Step 5
Project confidence. Employers are looking for someone to do a job, and as an applicant you want everything about you to convince them you're just the person they've been for. Be advised, there's a fine line between confidant and cocky, but with a little practice you'll find just the balance to pull it off.
-
Step 6
Thank your interviewer. Regardless of how the interview went remember to shake hands and thank them for their time.
