Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is the place to be during the summer months. Fun for the whole family awaits you on your next vacation and you can save money for the things you want to do while in Myrtle Beach by dining wisely. Even in a resort city, you can dine inexpensively if you just know how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Stay in a hotel that offers a complimentary continental breakfast. You can save money by bypassing overpriced fast food chains and taking advantage of your hotel's continental breakfast. Most hotels offer a nice variety of menu items to choose from if you can get down to breakfast between the hours of 6 and 9 a.m.
Step2
Eat a large lunch at a buffet restaurant. The buffet prices at most restaurants during lunch hours are considerably less expensive than those during dinner hours. You'll get the same quality and quantity of food and you'll save up to $6 per person by taking your largest meal earlier in the day. Myrtle Beach has many buffet restaurants to choose from including seafood, home-style cooking, and Chinese food.
Step3
Eat your dinners early. Some Myrtle Beach restaurants offer an early bird special to diners who come in before 5 p.m.
Step4
Order a large entree and ask for an extra plate to share the dish with at least one other person in your party. Myrtle Beach restaurant portions are sometimes too big for one person to eat. Share your plate to save money.
Step5
Take your meals in. Efficiency apartments complete with stoves, microwaves, and refrigerators are available at most hotels. You can save money by purchasing your food in the grocery store and preparing it at your hotel rather than going out for dinner every night.
Step6
Skip dessert. If you need a little something to curb your sweet tooth after dinner, take a walk along the boardwalk and buy an ice cream cone or milkshake for a fraction of the price you'd pay at an expensive restaurant.

Tips & Warnings

  • Hot dogs, burgers, and chili fries can be bought inexpensively along the boardwalk in Myrtle Beach.
  • Take your meals further inland if you don't mind the drive. Conway, Georgetown, and Little River offer family dining at a reasonable price.
