How to Apply Liquid Eyeliner Using Different Techniques

Liquid eyeliner can be worn more than one way.

Things You'll Need

• Creamy highly pigmented black pencil eyeliner
• Black liquid liner
• Angled eyeliner brush
• Colored liquid eyeliner
• Fine-tipped liner brush
• Dark eye pencil

• Creamy highly pigmented colored pencil eyeliner
• Shimmer pencil

Instructions

1. Smudge a creamy highly pigmented black eyeliner into your top lash line. Make sure to get in between the lashes and don't leave any space between the product and your lash line. The consistency makes the eyeliner easy to work with, giving you a line you can trace over with the liquid liner if you are not confident in your ability to draw a straight line. Take your black liquid liner and run it over the existing line. Go back over the line to fix any jagged edges. Lightly wing the outer edges if you wish.

2. Apply liquid liner with an angled eyeliner brush that does not come with the package. Get into the top lash line as closely as possible to make lashes look thicker. Run the brush back and forth, not to get a perfect line, but to smoke up your eyeliner. Now you get more enduring softly smoky eyes. The formulation of liquid eyeliner will stay on longer than if you had used a powder or regular pencil eyeliner to create the effect.

3. Line upper lash line with a vivid or fun colored liquid eyeliner you like but may not have had the courage to wear. Make sure that the line is of medium thickness, thinner in the inner corners, gradually thicker towards the outer corners. With a very fine tipped liner brush, apply black liquid liner in a very thin line as close to top lashes as possible. 4. Give yourself almond-shaped doe eyes by lining your top lash line with a black liquid liner, from the center of the lid outwards. Make sure the line begins smoothly, as close to the lashes as can be. The line should gradually thicken towards the outer corners, ending in tiny wings. Take a dark eye pencil in the shade of your choice and lightly run it over the outside edges of your liquid eyeliner once it has dried. If you need to clean up your smudge job, do so very gently with a cotton swab.

5. Apply black liquid eyeliner the traditional way on top lash lines, winging edges slightly if you wish. Give the line dimension by lightly running a highly pigmented creamy eyeliner over the black line. It should be a color vivid enough to be noticeable, such as deep blue or emerald green. Another option is to run a shimmer pencil over the black line. Either way, an old look is imbibed with new life.

• Prop your elbow on a flat solid surface when you line your eyes. This gives you a steadier hand as you apply eyeliner, especially the liquid variety.
