The ukulele is a very unique instrument that can be used to play many different chords as well as different genres of music. A more advanced chord that is used in the key of Gb is the Gbm chord. This chord is most likely to be heard following the Gb chord when playing in the Gb key. The Gbm is used to darken the tone of the Gb but produces a beautiful tone. Learn how to play this chord in just a few steps.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Find a comfortable position to sit or stand in while keeping the back upright. Place the right arm over the front center of the ukulele body near the strings. Use the right hand to hold underneath the body. Position the ukulele close to the body near the abdomen area with the strings facing away from the body.
Step2
To hold the neck of the ukulele, use the left hand. Rest the neck between the left index thumb and left index finger. Relax the left arm and elbow by keeping it down and close to the left side of the body.
Step3
Place the left index finger on the “C” string that is on the first bar between the string spacer and first fret. Keep the finger on the bar without touching the string spacer, fret or any other strings.
Step4
With the tip of the left middle finger, hold down the "G" or top string on the second bar between the first and second fret. Move the left ring finger also to the second bar and place it on the “E” string between the first and second fret.
Step5
Press down firmly on the assigned strings. Also press the left thumb against the back of the ukulele neck directly behind the first bar. With the right hand, gently strum over all four strings near the center of the ukulele body to hear the Gbm chord.
