How to Maintain a BB Rifle
Caring for your BB rifle is easy and inexpensive. Even though BB rifles do not require the use of gun powder, they should still be cared for and maintained to ensure accuracy when shooting at a target. If you notice that you're not hitting a target with as much accuracy as before, cleaning your rifle usually solves the problem.

1
Use two drops of high flash cylinder oil to clean out the barrel of your BB rifle. You should do this after 1,000 shots to maintain a clean and well functioning rifle. Rifles that are not cleaned periodically can become jammed or begin to perform poorly.
-
2
After cleaning the barrel, take a dry cloth and rub down the outside of the rifle. This will help eliminate dirt and debris that may have accumulated during the day. Cleaning your BB rifle each time you use it can also help you identify broken or malfunctioning pieces so they can be replaced.

3
Store your BB rifle in a cool, dry area. Never leave your rifle outside. A carrying case or heavy blanket should be used to protect the rifle when it's not in use. If the rifle has been stored for a long period of time, you should clean and inspect it before use. Even if you cleaned the rifle before storing it, you should clean it with a dry cloth to make sure the rifle will function normally.

4
If your BB rifle includes a gas cartridge, you should remove the cartridge before storing the rifle. Store cartridges in a cool, dry place. If you leave the cartridge on the rifle, the cartridge may leak or cause damage to the rifle.
-
5
Keep a log to record each time you clean your BB rifle. This will remind you when to do a thorough cleaning using high flash cylinder oil. Keep log next to your rifle so you don't forget to writer down cleaning and maintenance times.

Tips & Warnings
Never use regular oil to clean your BB rifle. Regular oil can clog the smaller parts within the rifle body.
Never try to make internal rifle repairs yourself. Take the rifle to a professional who has the tools and the expertise to replace parts and perform internal maintenance.
