Most people remember junior high school as an awkward period. You may have had braces, gone through puberty, had a growth spurt, had acne problems, or joined a new school. Junior high school is hard enough without the social pressures of being popular. 1. Wear name brand jeans. That's right, junior high students care about what you wear. Of course, that will change as you get older, but in junior high school, it is extremely important. Calvin Klein, Silver, Levi, Eddie Bauer, American Eagle and Express are all acceptable brands to wear.

2. Purchase name brand sneakers. Sneakers are just as important as jeans. You must have a name brand. If you can't afford the most expensive shoes, just make sure they aren't a generic brand. Reebok, Nike, New Balance and Sketchers are acceptable brands.

3. Join as many organizations as possible. Being popular has more to do with clothes than with personality in junior high school. You do, however, have to have friends too. The more organizations you join, the more friend you will make. Steer clear from clubs like chess, debate and speech. Join things like cheer leading, softball, basketball, volleyball, football and choir.

4. Hold your head high when you walk through the hall. Confidence is extremely important in junior high school. In fact, there is such a lack of confidence during that particular time of life, anyone with confidence will more than likely be popular.

5. Study and receive good grades. Believe it or not, being smart and getting good grades is cool. It makes other want to be like you. This draws students to you. As long as you aren't a bookworm and a teacher's pet, you will become popular.

• Talk to as many people as possible. Popular junior high students don't get popular by being shy. If you're shy, act like you're not.

• Don't suck up to the teachers. Although you should receive good grades, you should never be the teacher's favorite in junior high school.

• Don't wear the same outfit during the same week. Try to wait at least 10 school days before wearing the same clothes.
