How to Play Underwater Pool Olympics

There are several swimming games that can be played at pools. From volleyball to swimming tag, children can spend hours enjoying the fun in the water. Going underwater to do various activities is also a fun concept that can be tied together to create an event known as the "Underwater Pool Olympics." Swimmers participate in various underwater activities and prizes are awarded at the end for the best swimmers. The various activities are fun and easy to set up.

Instructions

    • 1

Create medals for the Olympic ceremony. The easiest way to create them is by using fishing line or dental floss and tin foil. You can also purchase a pack of plastic medals for fairly cheap.

    • 2

Set up all of the games. Many of them will just require the swimmers, so it should be pretty easy. Have goggles, coins and a stop watch handy.

    • 3

Play Treasure Hunt. In this game, you toss in a dollar worth of coins into the pool, and going two at a time, the participants try to gather as many coins as they can.

    • 4

Count the change after a minute of searching, and whoever has the most wins, but every participant gets to keep the money they have found.

    • 5

Play Endurance. All of the participants go into the pool and see who can stay under the longest. Keep track of each place that the swimmers get.

    • 6

Run an underwater race. Have swimmers start from one end of the pool and see who can swim to the other end fastest. The swimmers must try and stay underwater the whole time, though!

    • 7

Set up a swimming obstacle course. Use various floatable toys and incorporate other things like sinking rings. Whoever makes it through the course and gathers all of the rings the quickest is the winner.

    • 8

Tally the scores and hold an Olympic celebration by the pool. Award the winners, but make sure every participant is awarded for their valiant effort.

    • 9

Run contests twice if many of the swimmers like them.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep several people supervising the activities; you do not want anyone drowning during a fun swim session.
