Things You'll Need:
- Poppers or sparklers
- Hot dogs and hamburgers
- Coloring pages
- Decorative party supplies
- Festive shirts
-
Step 1
Buy some festive party supplies such as Fourth of July plates, cups, and napkins. You can use regular silverware, or utilize red white and blue silverware. You might even find some festive party supplies at the Dollar Store. You can also have your children create a festive centerpiece using construction paper, glitter, and tissue paper.
-
Step 2
Buy some festive Fourth of July shirts featuring firecrackers or flags on them that your kids can wear on the Fourth of July. You might be able to find some socks or hats for them to wear as well.
-
Step 3
Let the kids decorate a tablecloth that you'll be using on the Fourth of July. Pick up some butcher paper and let the kids color, using red and blue crayons or markers. Use the tablecloth to cover their table at mealtime.
-
Step 4
Celebrate the Fourth of July with a barbecue. Fix some hot dogs and hamburgers for the kids. You can finish up the barbecue by making some s'mores, cooking the marshmallows over the barbecue. Make sure children are supervised to prevent burns.
-
Step 5
Provide the kids with some coloring pages. You can find coloring pages for the Fourth of July all over the Internet. Many of them are free to print out. Just print the coloring pages and provide the crayons.
-
Step 6
Pack a picnic. If you don’t want to stay at home, pack up a picnic lunch or dinner and take it with you. Find a spot you can eat with your kids and camp out until the fireworks start.
-
Step 7
Go to a park or look-out to watch the fireworks if you can’t see fireworks from your house. A lot of times they’ll have firework displays over bodies of water (lakes or bays) or at the city park. Take a blanket and something to sit on. Don’t forget your jacket.
-
Step 8
Let your kids set off some poppers or twirl around sparklers. While waiting for the fireworks to get started, give your kids some poppers to throw on the ground. Poppers make a loud popping sound when they hit the ground. You can also let them hold sparklers. Supervise them while doing this. Do not do this in areas where there are lots of people. It could be potentially dangerous to the children and to the people around them.
-
Step 9
Have fun on the Fourth of July. Remember, we celebrate this day because it was the day we declared our independence. Make this a memorable day for you and your kids.
