Things You'll Need:

  • Tulle
  • Headpiece or tiara
  • Thread
  1. Step 1

Buy or borrow some tulle or lace. Most people use tulle or lace as their veil, however you can choose any fabric you like. Either tulle or lace is highly recommended though because it will look best with your dress. You can use any type of fabric that you like, but these are the most common fabrics to use.

  2. Step 2

Buy or borrow a tiara, clip or headpiece. You will need something to connect the tulle to and the best options are a tiara, hair clip or headpiece. There is a wide selection of these that you can choose from to create the look you want for your wedding day. Many brides like a tiara so they can complete their dream of being a princess on their special day, however a hair clip or other headpiece can be just as stylish and beautiful.

  3. Step 3

Attach the tulle to the headpiece. Once you have the tulle, lace or other fabric you plan on using and the headpiece, tiara or hair clip then you can move on and attach the tulle to the headpiece. It is really easy to do and you will want to use either fishing line because it is durable and clear or matching heavy duty thread. Take the tulle and bunch it up in your hand and then take the headpiece and experiment with how you want to connect it. Many women choose to attach it backwards so they can flip over the tulle and cover the area where the tulle is attached and gain some volume at the same time. When you begin attaching the tulle simply run the thread/fishing line through the tulle and around the headpiece like you are sewing. Try to make small loops so that it will be tight and just go along adding more tulle and sewing until you finish.

  4. Step 4

Try on your veil. Once you have completed the process you will want to try your veil on with your dress to make sure it looks the way you had imagined. If not, try again. If you need a little help check out the veils at your local bridal salon to see how they are made and then try again. It really is pretty easy and you can do it.

Tips & Warnings
